Toddlers

The Center offers a toddler program for children 18 to 30 months old, and ensures continuity of care for toddlers by keeping primary care groups together until they reach preschool.

Toddlers have their own curriculum. Teachers plan the environment carefully so that lessons may be learned through exploration and discovery. Sensitive observation of the children’s needs and interests lead teachers to the adapt curriculum to meet the needs of individual children and the classroom as a whole.

“Our program draws on the toddler’s natural interest of discovery, urge to learn, and the need for close, responsive relationships with teachers and classmates.” – Sylvia Correa, Center Director

Toddlers are explorers on the road to learning. Let us guide your child through experiences that will engage, excite and enrich him/her on a daily basis.

In a safe and nurturing environment, your little adventurer will find his or her voice, make new friends and develop confidence in newfound abilities. We build brain power through creative games and colorful stories, while helping your child acclimate to a more routine or structured setting.

You are more than welcome to visit your toddler during the day to catch him/her in the act of learning; please consult the Open Door Policy (mentioned later in this handbook) for visitor guidelines. We will share your joy as we tell you about his new experiences and exciting accomplishments.

Toddlers can graduate to the Preschool Program at as yearly as 30 months old.

Pre-Kindergarten Program

The Center offers a preschool program for children ranging from 2 years old to children ready to enter 1st grade.

This program offers appropriate challenge and interest for active preschool children. Hands-on sensory experiences help children understand concepts as we emphasize language and literacy, math and science. These programs are designed to build self-esteem and prepare children for kindergarten and beyond.

The preschool is designed to provide an enriched developmental curriculum that will foster a child’s disposition to be curious and involved learners who are active participants in constructing their knowledge of the world. To support the child’s construction of knowledge:

  • Teachers support child-initiated engagement and experimentation with a variety of materials based on the child’s interest level and ability
  • Children are encouraged to develop ideas over time, to deepen their understanding of the natural and social world by questioning, exploring and representing ideas through various creative mediums
  • Indoor and outdoor activities expose the children to art, science, music, dramatic play, and language development on a daily basis
  • Being part of a shared community is actively encouraged. Center teachers emphasize cooperation and create classroom groups that develop concern for each other as they problem solve and work together

Curriculum is carried out with the belief that children are learning at all times and that the teacher’s role is to facilitate and enrich the learning process.
